I'm interested in the universal properties of ellipses in natural languages. My current research investigates the clausal elliptical construction which allows multiple adjacent wh-elements to inquire for information simultaneously, as in (1) below. This type of elliptical construction is known as multiple sluicing (MS).
(1) Every editor commented on some paper, but I just don't know which editor on which paper. The focus of my research lies on methods of experimental syntax and phycholinguistics. I examine several factors that affect the acceptability and processing of multiple sluicing constructions in English, as well as doing cross-linguistic comparison with German and Spanish. |
